EACH ENTRANT (AND MINOR ENTRANT’S PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN ON MINOR’S BEHALF) AGREES TO THESE OFFICIAL RULES.

WINNER (AND MINOR WINNER’S PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN ON MINOR’S BEHALF) WILL BE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PRIZE FULFILLMENT PROCESS AND MAY HAVE TO SIGN DOCUMENTATION, SUCH AS A RELEASE OR DECLARATION, IN SPONSOR’S SOLE DISCRETION AS MORE FULLY DESCRIBED BELOW, OR PRIZE MAY BE FORFEITED. INTERNET ACCESS IS REQUIRED

The EXPERIENCE FAME Sweepstakes (“Sweepstakes”) starts at 12:00:00 am Pacific Time ("PT") on Monday, September 7, 2009 and ends at 12:00:00 pm NOON PT on Friday, September 18, 2009 (“Sweepstakes Period”). This Sweepstakes shall be subject to these Official Rules, and by entering, all entrants and minor entrants' parents or legal guardians agree to abide and be bound by these rules and the decisions of the judges and Sponsor. Sponsor’s clock shall be the official timepiece of the Sweepstakes. By participating, each entrant and minor entrant's parent or legal guardian acknowledges that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. ("MGM") and its parents, affiliates and subsidiaries are not a sponsor of the Sweepstakes, and are not responsible for and will have no liability with respect to or in any way arising out of the Sweepstakes, including without limitation any injury, loss or liability of any kind with respect to or resulting from the development and execution of the Sweepstakes. All legal responsibilities and rights of a minor under these Official Rules are assumed and given by the minor’s parent or legal guardian.

1) ELIGIBILITY:This Sweepstakes is open only to legal U.S. residents who physically reside in the state of California, age 15 or older as of the Sweepstakes start date. Employees of Sponsor (defined below), MGM, Sponsor’s affiliated or parent companies, or Sponsor’s advertising or promotional agencies or any of the Sweepstakes prize providers are not eligible to enter or win. Immediate family or household members of such employees are also ineligible. For the purpose of this Sweepstakes, immediate family is defined as spouse, mother, father, legal guardian, in-laws, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, children, and grandchildren. Void where prohibited and outside California.
2) HOW TO ENTER: To enter, follow the on-screen instructions and accurately complete and submit the online entry form during the Sweepstakes Period at: www.latimes.com/experiencefame ("Web Site"). To be eligible, all entries must be received during the Sweepstakes Period through the Web Site. For purposes of this Sweepstakes, an entry is “received” when the Web Site’s servers record the entry information. Proof of sending (such as an automated computer receipt confirming entry or “thanks for entering” screen or message) does not constitute proof of actual receipt of an entry for purposes of this Sweepstakes. All entries become property of Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned. There is a limit of one (1) entry per person, per household, and per e-mail address. Multiple entries will be disqualified. The use of a macro, bot, or any automated or third party means, software or web site to register and/or play is prohibited. Entrants must use their own names. Entries made by any other individual or any entity, and/or originating at any other web site or that are incomplete or otherwise do not comply with these rules or Sponsor's instructions are not eligible and will be rejected. Entries that are forged, copied, altered, incomplete, lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, illegible or garbled will not be accepted and will be void. Sponsor is not responsible for late, incomplete, misdirected entries, delayed, deleted, garbled, or lost entries, or for errors in mechanical transmission, online/internet problems, technical difficulties or inability to transmit/receive internet entries. As a condition of entering the Sweepstakes, each entrant gives consent for Sponsor to obtain and deliver his or her name, address and other information to third parties for the purpose of administering this Sweepstakes and complying with applicable laws, regulations and rules.
3) WINNER SELECTION/ODDS: One (1) Grand Prize Winner and thirty (30) Runners-up will be selected by random drawing from among eligible entries received. On or about September 18, 2009, the random drawing will be conducted by Sponsor’s designated agent, whose decisions are final, to determine the winners. The odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. Sponsor will attempt to notify potential prizewinners by e-mail or telephone (in Sponsor's sole discretion) on or about September 18, 2009. Failure to claim a prize within 1 day of the first notification or otherwise comply with the instructions in the notification will result in forfeiture and Sponsor may select an alternate winner by random drawing from among remaining eligible entries. Entrants agree Sponsor has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising from this Sweepstakes and the Sponsor’s decisions are final and binding. Winner and Runners-up (or parent or legal guardian in the event Winner or Runner-up is a minor) will be required to complete, sign and have notarized (if applicable) an affidavit of eligibility/release form and tax forms (any of which may require providing winner’s and/or winner's parent's or legal guardian's Social Security Number and/or state-issued identification number and/or copy thereof) without alteration and in the form provided by Sponsor and return it according to Sponsor's instructions within 2 days of the date these documents were sent by Sponsor or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be chosen. If any prize, prize notification or Sweepstakes-related communication is rejected, faulty or returned as undeliverable, if the winner cannot attend or participate in any portion of the prize, or if a potential winner cannot be reached after a reasonable attempt has been made by Sponsor or does not respond according to Sponsor’s instructions (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion), that winner or potential winner may be disqualified and an alternate winner may be randomly selected.
4) THE PRIZES : :One Grand Prize winner, subject to verification, will receive: two (2) VIP tickets for use by grand prize winner and one (1) guest to attend the VIP screening of the motion picture "FAME" at The Grove in Los Angeles, California, currently scheduled to take place on September 23, 2009; VIP admittance for grand prize winner and one (1) guest to the special performance prior to the VIP screening at The Grove (exact time and other details to be determined) and a meet & greet with the cast of FAME (cast determined in MGM's sole discretion); a one (1) year membership for grand prize winner to Crunch Fitness (Approximate retail value ("ARV") = $1,200); One (1) $100 Sephora Gift Card - The Sephora gift card expires one (1) year after issuance and winner must use the gift card before that date or that portion of the prize will be forfeited; a manicure and pedicure for grand prize winner and one (1) guest at L.A. Vie L’Orange (ARV = $120); One (1) $100 Johnny Rocket’s Gift Card; one (1) FAME Soundtrack (ARV = $15); and one (1) FAME T-shirt (ARV = $10). ARV of the grand prize package = $1,575. All transportation, applicable gratuity, incidental charges and all other expenses not specified in these Official Rules as being provided as part of the Grand Prize package inclusions are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Thirty (30) Runners-up, subject to verification, will each receive: a pair of tickets for use by the runner-up and one (1) guest to attend the VIP screening of FAME at The Grove in Los Angeles, California, currently scheduled to take place on September 23, 2009; One (1) Giftcard from Claire’s (ARV = $20); one (1) FAME Soundtrack (ARV = $15); and one (1) FAME T-shirt (ARV = $10). Total ARV of each runner-up prize = $70. All transportation, applicable gratuity, incidental charges and all other expenses not specified in these rules as being provided as part of the runner-up package inclusions are the sole responsibility of each winner.

The following applies to all prizes: Total ARV of all prizes: $3,675. All ticket arrangements must be made through Sponsor or Sponsor’s designated agent. All gift cards are subject to their own terms and conditions. All prize details not specified in these Official Rules will be determined in Sponsor’s or prize provider's sole discretion. Any difference between the actual value and the approximate retail value stated in these Official Rules or in any Sweepstakes-related correspondence or materials will not be awarded. If legitimately claimed, the prize will be awarded. Prize is non-transferable, non-negotiable and not redeemable for cash, credit or merchandise. Sponsor is not responsible if the screening or any other event is canceled, postponed, or delayed. If any prize becomes unavailable for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. In the event the meet and greet does not occur for whatever reason, no substitute prize will be awarded. Winner and Runners-up (or their parents or legal guardians if they are minors) will be solely responsible for any and all applicable federal, state, and local taxes associated with the prize. All properly claimed prizes will be awarded, but in no event will Sponsor award more prizes than are provided for in these Official Rules. Winner is strictly prohibited from selling, auctioning, trading or otherwise transferring any part of the prize. Sponsor and prize providers will not replace any lost, mutilated or stolen prize or any prize that is undeliverable or does not reach the winner because of an incorrect or changed address. If winner does not accept or use the entire prize, the unaccepted or unused part of the prize will be forfeited and Sponsor and prize providers will have no further obligation with respect to that prize or portion of the prize.

5) Publicity/Releases/Limitation of Liability: Winner and Runners-up agree that the Sponsor shall have the right to use their names, cities of residence and likenesses, including, but not limited to voice, photo, testimonials in any media, in any manner the Sponsor deems appropriate in connection with promoting this or any other sweepstakes conducted by the Sponsor, without additional compensation. Winner and Runners-up, by acceptance of their prizes, agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless Sponsor, its prize suppliers, including, without limitation, MGM, and each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, divisions, advertising and promotion agencies and affiliates, and each of their employees, officers, directors, agents, representatives, contractors, and advertisers (collectively, the "Sponsor Affiliates"), from any and all liability, loss, damage, costs or claims of any kind related to any allegation regarding the conduct of this Sweepstakes, the award, receipt, acceptance, possession, misuse or use of any prize, and any Sweepstakes-related travel or activity, including, without limitation, any injury, damage, death, loss or accident to person or property. Sponsor is not responsible for personal injury to any Winner or Runners-up or to their companions incurred in connection with the use of the prize.

EACH WINNER AGREES THAT THE PRIZE IS PROVIDED AS-IS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION OR GUARANTEE, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, WHETHER NOW KNOWN OR HEREINAFTER ENACTED, RELATIVE TO THE USE OR ENJOYMENT OF THE PRIZE, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ITS QUALITY, MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. FURTHER, SPONSOR AND PRIZE PROVIDERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL EXPENSES, OMISSIONS, OR DELAYS RESULTING FROM ANY ACTS OF ANY GOVERNMENT OR AUTHORITY. WINNER ACKNOWLEDGES THAT HE/SHE IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACTIONS, CLAIMS OR LIABILITIES OF HIS/HER GUEST RELATED TO ANY SWEEPSTAKES-RELATED ACTIVITY, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY ACTIONS, CLAIMS OR LIABILITIES RELATED TO THE GUEST’S USE OF THE PRIZE.

EACH ENTRANT UNDERSTANDS AND AGREES THAT ALL RIGHTS UNDER SECTION 1542 OF THE CIVIL CODE OF CALIFORNIA AND ANY SIMILAR LAW OF ANY STATE OR TERRITORY OF THE UNITED STATES ARE HEREBY EXPRESSLY WAIVED BY HIM/HER. SECTION 1542 READS AS FOLLOWS:

“CERTAIN CLAIMS NOT AFFECTED BY A GENERAL RELEASE. A GENERAL RELEASE DOES NOT EXTEND TO CLAIMS WHICH THE CREDITOR DOES NOT KNOW OR SUSPECT TO EXIST IN HIS OR HER FAVOR AT THE TIME OF EXECUTING THE RELEASE, WHICH IF KNOWN BY HIM OR HER MUST HAVE MATERIALLY AFFECTED HIS OR HER SETTLEMENT WITH THE DEBTOR.”

6) Internet/General Rules: If for any reason this Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, or if this Sweepstakes or any web site associated therewith (or any portion thereof) becomes corrupted or does not allow the proper playing of the Sweepstakes and processing of entries in accordance with these rules, or if infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, actions by entrants, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes, in the Sponsor’s sole opinion, corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, the Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual implicated in such action and/or to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this Sweepstakes or any portion thereof. In the event this Sweepstakes is cancelled, the Sponsor will conduct a random drawing to award prizes from among all eligible, non-suspect entries received prior to the time of the action or event, warranting such cancellation. If such cancellation, termination, modification, or suspension occurs, notification will be posted at the Web Site. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void entries of any entrants who Sponsor believes have attempted to tamper with or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this Sweepstakes. Sponsor’s failure to or decision not to enforce any provision in these Official Rules will not constitute a waiver of that or any other provision. In the event there is an alleged or actual ambiguity, discrepancy or inconsistency between disclosures or other statements contained in any Sweepstakes-related materials and/or these Official Rules (including any alleged discrepancy or inconsistency in these Official Rules), it will be resolved in Sponsor’s sole discretion. If Sponsor determines at any time in its sole discretion that the winner or potential winner is disqualified, ineligible, or in violation of these Official Rules, Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to select an alternate winner, even if the disqualified potential winner’s name may have been shown or announced on the Web Site or elsewhere. The invalidity or unenforceability of any provision of these Official Rules shall not affect the validity or enforceability of any other provision. In the event that any provision is determined to be invalid or otherwise unenforceable or illegal, these Official Rules shall otherwise remain in effect and shall be construed in accordance with their terms as if the invalid or illegal provision were not contained herein. If any person supplies false information, obtains entries by fraudulent means or is otherwise determined to be in violation of these Official Rules in an attempt to obtain any prize, Sponsor may disqualify that person and seek damages from him or her and that person may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DAMAGE ANY ONLINE SERVICE OR WEB SITE (INCLUDING THE ENTRY SITE) OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE SWEEPSTAKES VIOLATES CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS. IF SUCH AN ATTEMPT IS MADE, SPONSOR MAY DISQUALIFY ANY PARTICIPANT MAKING SUCH ATTEMPT AND MAY SEEK DAMAGES TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. In the event of a dispute concerning who submitted an entry, the entry will be declared to have been made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry, but only if that person meets all other eligibility criteria or is the approving parent or legal guardian of a minor participant who meets all of the eligibility criteria, otherwise the entry may be disqualified and any potential prize won will be forfeited in Sponsor’s sole discretion. An authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Potential winner may be required to provide Sponsor with proof that he/she is the authorized account holder of the e-mail address associated with the potentially winning entry. If a dispute cannot be resolved to Sponsor’s satisfaction, the entry will be deemed ineligible. Any entry information collected from the Sweepstakes shall be used only in a manner consistent with the consent given by entrants at the time of the entry, with these Official Rules and with the Los Angeles Times Online Privacy Policy, which can be found at http://www.latimes.com/services/site/la-privacy,0,3125046.story.
7) Disputes: Except where prohibited, as a condition of participating in this Sweepstakes, each entrant agrees that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved between the entrant and any Sponsor Affiliate, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Sweepstakes, or the prize awarded, or the determination of the winner must be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will an entrant be permitted or entitled to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental or consequential damages, or any other damages, including attorneys’ fees, other than entrant’s actual out-pocket expenses (if any), not to exceed two hundred fifty dollars ($250), and entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.
8) Winner’s List/Official Rules:For the names of the Winner and Runners-up or a copy of these Official Rules (specify which you want), send a stamped, self-addressed envelope to Los Angeles Times/EXPERIENCE FAME WINNERS/RULES, Los Angeles Times, Entertainment Advertising, Times West Building, 2nd Floor, 202 West First Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012. All rules requests must be received by October 30, 2009, and winners list requests must be received by February 18, 2010.  Only one (1) request per outer envelope, mailed separately, will be fulfilled. Vermont residents may omit return postage with Official Rules requests.
